Hello there from Mitten Licken Donut Co! We wanted to take a minute and really introduce ourselves to those of you who don't know our story. Where we're from and why we're here.

My name is Ariel and this is my husband Dylan.
We met in high-school at 17. So we are high-school sweet hearts! So cute right? Fast forward to now, at 29 years old we have been together 12 years and married for 7 years.

We have 2 beautiful kids. Jaxon and Raelynn. We are also expecting our 3rd baby, another girl this April! If this new baby arrives on time then all of our kids will have April birthdays. A month of fun celebrating! We can't wait for her to be here to join our family.

So our family lives in Mancelona, Michigan. This is the town where Dylan and I met in school all those years ago. After we graduated we did leave Mancelona for a few years. We moved downstate to Clio to be by Dylan's family. We moved a lot, worked a ton, had fun enjoying our early 20s.
We got married in July of 2014 and found out we were pregnant with our son Jaxon not too long afterwards. We bought a tiny little house in Flint and had a 5 year plan to stay there and save up for something bigger. Once Jaxon was born though we realized we didn't want to raise our baby there. We made the decision to move back home to Mancelona after living downstate for 5 years.

We moved back and after about 6 months we bought our first house. To us it was a dream home. Out in the woods, on 4 acres, a large pole barn that had an apartment above it. It was everything we ever wanted. And a place we thought we would stay forever in to raise our family.
Fast forward a few years. We welcomed our daughter Raelynn to the family. Dylan was working at a factory an hour away as a material handler. I was working for myself as a housekeeper for vacation rentals. Things were busy and like it is for most families, Dylan and I worked different hours so we really didn't see each other much except for weekends. A lot of the times Dylan had to work weekends too so it was hard on our family not seeing him a lot some weeks.

Jaxon started preschool and that's when it really got hard with Dylan's crazy work schedule. Raelynn was too young to really get upset at how much Dylan was gone. Jaxon on the other hand, he took it hard. Jaxon would go almost a week at time not seeing Dylan. He would cry after school saying how he missed his Daddy. We would video call Dylan on his breaks so Jaxon could talk with him and see him. Dylan and I couldn't take it though. We knew we had to change this. We didn't want to raise our kids like that.

We started looking into how we could change things. Well we realized that the housing market was rising. Our beautiful little home had doubled in value the 5 years that we lived there. There were a lot of discussions, deciding, wondering if we should sell our home. If it would be worth it. Would we regret it? What would we do once we did?

Finally we settled on the decision to sell our home. About 6 months after listing it, it sold. It was very bittersweet. Lots of tears were shed over leaving that house and still wondering if we made the right choice.

We closed in November so there weren't many other housing options available. We scrambled to find another home to move into. Thankfully we did and we bought a small home still in Mancelona, this time right outside of the city limits.

We stayed there for a while fixing the place up and deciding where to go from there. Trying to figure out what we could use our money for to start our own business. We stayed there for 6 months and once again took advantage of the high market and sold that home as well. This time we bought my Grandmas house, right in town on a beautiful corner lot. It was a place that I loved and had many memories in.

Fast forward a few more months and Dylan and I had decided we wanted to run a food truck for our business. We started off wanting to do a smoked meats truck. We both love cooking and Dylan especially loves using his smoker. I always had thought a donut and coffee truck would be so fun but you never see those anywhere operating let alone for sale. We looked and looked and weren't finding the truck we were wanting.

Finally, we found our truck. It was our donut and coffee truck. We checked it out and fell in love. We bought it, brought it home and started the process of getting it operational. It took us a few months from when we got it to being able to open. We did a lot of test runs of donuts, getting the consistency down and figuring out how everything worked. We gave family and friends so many donuts to try. Had a little get together to try out the toppings. Once we got the go ahead to open and we had our menu picked out, we set the date. On January 10th, 2022 we officially opened our truck.

Since then it has gone amazing. We've had so much support from the community.. Despite the frigid weather so many people have stopped in to try out our donuts. So we thank you all! We look forward to be able to continue serving you fresh delicious donuts and can't wait to see where this year takes us!
